Innovation is taking flight around Prishtina municipality! After planting more than 38,600 seed bombs across 16 hectares with the help of +2000 volunteers since 2024, we’re now unveiling our very own custom-built drone.
How it works?
Our drone is like a flying gardener, designed to plant trees quickly and efficiently.
Plan the Route
Our GIS expert with the team analyzes the terrain and identifies the best planting zones using advanced mapping tools. This ensures every route is precise, efficient, and focused on areas where reforestation will have the greatest impact.
Load the Seed Bombs
We prepare the drone with
eco-friendly seed bombs made from native species. Each seed bomb is crafted to protect the seed and provide nutrients, giving it the best chance to sprout and grow.
Take Flight
Once everything is ready, the drone takes off and follows its optimized, pre-planned route. Its autonomous system covers large areas quickly and accurately, ensuring consistent and effective planting.
Drop the Seeds
The drone releases seed bombs in targeted locations including areas that are steep, remote, or impossible to reach by hand. This approach saves time, boosts efficiency, and allows us to plant far more seeds than traditional manual methods.
With this method, we can reforest hard-to-reach or damaged areas faster, cheaper, and with less environmental disturbance than traditional planting methods.

Our Plan
In August and September, we prepared for the Autumn planting season by securing essential seed bomb materials clay, compost, native seeds and equipment to boost production efficiency. We strengthened our partnership with the Prishtina Directorate of Parks and Public Spaces and confirmed drone planting services with Projekt O2, ensuring precision reforestation in hard-to-reach areas.
In September, SLK presented the project’s innovative blend of drone technology and community engagement at major international conferences in Cabo Verde and Prishtina. These events positioned Kosovo as a leader in tech-driven reforestation.
Taking Green Wings Global
We welcomed new team members, partnered with Brandfluence for communications, and launched a public call for volunteers, building momentum for the planting season.
Team Expansion & Preparation
In November 2024, over 290 volunteers from schools, universities, NGOs, and businesses helped prepare 13,500 seed bombs made with black pine, oak, and linden seeds. Using both drones and manual planting, we reforested 6 hectares, 5 by drone in Kodra e Trimave and 1 manually in Arbëria.
Autumn Planting Success
Technical assessments using drones, GIS mapping, and NDVI analysis showed early signs of vegetation recovery in Butovc Hill and established a baseline for newly planted areas. Continuous monitoring will guide improvements and ensure long-term ecological success.
